Normalized Model Reference Adaptive Control Applied to High Starting Torque Scalar Control Scheme for Induction Motors

Recently, a novel high-starting torque scalar control scheme (HST-SCS) for induction motor(s) (IM) emerged. It expands the application field beyond centrifugal pumps, blowers, and fans, moving, instance, some conveyor belts with nominal loading. This paper proposes normalized model reference adaptive (N-MRAC) applied to HST-SCS IM. First, proposal extends MRAC, resulting inn class of nonlinear systems encompassing IM dynamical model. uses information vector, jointly direct approach, reducing trial error controller tuning. Second, properly designed N-MRAC is regulate starting stator current within variable speed drive under investigation. As result, proposed methodology keeps as simple without needing observers or parameter estimators employing tuning only from motor nameplate datasheet. Test bench experiments 10 HP validate effectiveness.
